Mankweng police arrest suspect in fatal pub stabbing

A 25-year-old man was arrested for the fatal stabbing of a 31-year-old man at a pub in Mankweng on Saturday.

LIMPOPO – Mankweng police have arrested a 25-year-old suspect in connection with a murder that occurred at a pub in Mankweng Unit D over the weekend.

Police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba says the arrest followed a manhunt launched after a 31-year-old man was stabbed to death at the T-Zone Pub on Saturday (January 24) at around 02:30.

“The deceased sustained multiple stab wounds to the upper body and later succumbed to his injuries in hospital,” says Ledwaba.

The suspect was traced and arrested on Sunday afternoon (January 25) in Mamotintane Village.

He is expected to appear before the Mankweng Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday (January 27) on a charge of murder.

Police investigations are continuing.
