Water supply interruptions reported in parts of Polokwane

Parts of Polokwane are experiencing water supply interruptions due to pumpstation outages and emergency repairs.

LIMPOPO – Several areas in Polokwane are experiencing water supply interruptions following two separate incidents affecting the city’s water infrastructure.

Polokwane municipality spokesperson Thipa Selala said Lepelle Northern Water (LNW) reported a stoppage at Pumpstation 3 after a power outage at Pumpstation 2 on the Olifantspoort supply line. This has resulted in reduced water flow to Penina Park, Ivy Park, and parts of Nirvana and Ivydale.

Selala said the matter has been escalated to Eskom and that efforts are underway to restore power and normal operations.

In a separate incident, Selala said a leaking valve connection in Fauna Park led to significant water losses, prompting emergency repair work. This has resulted in a temporary interruption of water supply to Flora Park, Moergloed, and Fauna Park.

Water tankers will be deployed to affected areas to provide temporary relief while restoration work continues.
