Man to appear in court after woman stabbed in Makhado
A 22-year-old man is expected to appear in the Makhado Magistrate’s Court on an attempted murder charge following a stabbing in Tshikota village.

LIMPOPO – A 22-year-old foreign national is expected to appear before the Makhado Magistrate’s Court today (February 9) on a charge of attempted murder following a stabbing incident in Tshikota village.
Police spokesperson Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba said the incident occurred on Friday night when the victim, a 39-year-old Zimbabwean national, was walking with a friend and a male companion when they encountered the suspect, who was known to them, in the company of another woman,” Mashaba said.
The suspect accused the male companion of looking at his girlfriend inappropriately and became aggressive. A confrontation ensued, during which the male companion fled the scene.
The suspect produced a knife and stabbed the woman several times before attempting to flee. The victim screamed for help, prompting community members to intervene.
Community members apprehended the suspect and assaulted him. Police were summoned to the scene and rescued the suspect from further assault.
Both the victim and the suspect were transported to hospital for medical treatment. The suspect was later arrested on a charge of attempted murder.
Provincial police commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe condemned the attack and cautioned community members against taking the law into their own hands, urging them to allow the law to take its course.
Police investigations are continuing.
