Stolen bakkie recovered after chase ends near Capricorn High School

A suspect was apprehended in a citizen’s arrest after stealing a bakkie in Boyne, with the pursuit ending near Capricorn High School.

POLOKWANE – A man was apprehended in a citizen’s arrest yesterday (February 17) after allegedly stealing a bakkie from a fuel station in Boyne.

According to information the Polokwane Observer received at the scene, the vehicle belongs to a local breakdown company. The suspect gained access to the bakkie by unknown means before driving off towards the city.

Members of the company gave chase and intercepted the vehicle opposite Capricorn High School. During the pursuit, the suspect reportedly collided with a government bakkie and a truck.

Sources claim the man was assaulted before being handed over to police at the scene.

Learners at Capricorn High School were directed to use an alternative gate during dismissal as a precaution.
