N1 near Makhado closed after bus crashes into ditch

The N1 near Ingwe Lodge outside Makhado has been closed in both directions after a bus ran off the road. Motorists are urged to use alternative routes.

Motorists are advised that the N1-29 near Ingwe Lodge, outside Makhado, has been closed in both directions following a bus crash early this morning.

According to traffic authorities, the bus ran off the road and fell into a ditch at approximately.

Emergency services are currently on the scene. Further details regarding injuries and the cause of the crash are expected once confirmed by authorities.

Alternative route

Motorists are urged to use the R523 (Nzhelele Road) as a diversion:

  • From Makhado (Witvlag), turn right onto the R523.
  • From Musina, turn left at Willysport onto the R523.
  • From Siloam, turn right onto the R523.

Drivers are advised to exercise caution, allow for possible delays and follow instructions from traffic officials on site.
