Manhunt launched after Thohoyandou man (22) is beaten to death

Police in Thohoyandou have launched a manhunt after a 22-year-old man was assaulted by a mob and later died in hospital.

LIMPOPO – Police in Thohoyandou, under the Vhembe District, have launched a manhunt following the brutal murder of a 22-year-old man on Sunday, February 22.

Victim found with severe injuries

Police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said officers were on patrol at around midday when they received information about a man who had been severely assaulted by a mob and dumped at the chief’s kraal in Dumasi Msanda Dumisa village.

“Police rushed to the scene but were informed on arrival that the victim had already been taken to hospital,” Ledwaba said.

At the medical facility, officers found the victim lying lifeless on a hospital bed, with severe injuries to his upper body. He was later positively identified by his next of kin as Rialivhuwa Mudau of Makononi village.

Manhunt launched

The motive for the attack is unknown at this stage, and police have intensified their search for the perpetrators involved.
