6 Killed, several Injured in Seshego minibus collision

The Limpopo Department of Transport confirms six fatalities in a D19 road minibus crash near Seshego, with the road still closed to traffic.

POLOKWANE – The Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety is investigating a serious road incident involving two minibuses on the D19 road near the Seshego cross.

The collision occurred this afternoon (Tuesday, March 3).

Department spokesperson Matome Taueatsoala says preliminary reports indicate that one of the minibuses was attempting to overtake while facing oncoming vehicles, leading to the crash.

Emergency services and traffic officers responded to the scene, where the road was immediately closed to traffic.

The Department has since confirmed the following casualty figures:

  • 6 fatalities (4 males and 2 females)
  • 2 serious injuries
  • 4 minor injuries

The D19 road remains closed to traffic. All available traffic officers have been deployed to manage congestion and reroute motorists.

Drivers are urged to use the following alternative routes:

  • For traffic from Polokwane: Use Extension 76 to access D19 at Seshego cross.
  • For traffic from Matlala road: Use Seshego cross to access D19 at Extension 76.

Motorists are urged to exercise extreme caution in the area. Further updates will be provided as the situation develops.
