N1 north closed near Ga-Phasha after tanker overturns

Motorists are being diverted after the N1 north near Ga-Phasha has been closed following a collision between a tanker and bus trailer.

POLOKWANE – The N1 north near Ga-Phasha in Limpopo has been closed following a crash involving a tanker and a bus trailer.

According to the Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety, the tanker overturned in the collision, and operators have deployed a relief vehicle to transfer the load.

The road has been closed as a precaution for environmental safety while the operation continues.

Motorists travelling between Makhado and Polokwane are being diverted via the R36 road before the tollgate, where they can connect to the R81 road or use the D1356 Botlokwa road to rejoin the N1.

Motorists travelling from Polokwane towards Makhado are advised to take the Matoks off-ramp and use the D1356 route past Mokomene to reconnect with the R36 before returning to the N1.
