Jabez learner makes national drummies team

The only learner from Limpopo in her age group, Nndondote Masevhe, will compete for Team SA at the international drummies competition.

POLOKWANE – Nndondote Masevhe, a talented 13-year-old Gr 8 learner at Jabez Christian Academy in Bendor, has made her school and family proud by being selected to represent South Africa in the 2027 international drummies competition.

She will compete under the majorette (major) junior national team category and is the only learner from the province chosen for this age group (junior).

Principal Dr Elana Erasmus described Nndondote’s achievement as a testament to her dedication, hard work, and passion for the sport.

She joined the school’s drummies team in Gr 4 and has trained tirelessly ever since, seizing every opportunity to sharpen her skills.

Her consistent excellence in trials organised by the Limpopo Majorettes and Cheerleading Association (Limca) and the South African Majorette and Cheerleading Association (Samca) culminated in her outstanding performance at the recent Samca solo trials in Mokopane, earning her a spot on the 24-member national team.

Excited about the achievement, Nndondote said: “I’m so thankful to Jabez Christian Academy for their support and encouragement throughout my drummies journey.

“I’m grateful to my coaches, family, and teammates for believing in me. Earning my Samca colours and mostly qualifying to represent my country and school feels beyond surreal, it’s a dream come true. Above all, I thank God for this amazing opportunity.”

Erasmus praised Nndondote for her perseverance and commitment.

“Her hard work has paid off, and she has earned these colours. But it’s not just about the accolades, it’s about glorifying God in all we do. Wear those colours with pride; I know you’ll represent us well internationally.”

Nndondote’s selection is a proud moment for Jabez Christian Academy and an inspiration to her peers.

As she prepares for the international stage, she carries the hopes and best wishes of her school and community.

This remarkable achievement highlights the combination of talent, discipline, and faith, setting a shining example for young learners aspiring to reach the national and international stage.

Anne Mametja

My name is Anne Mametja. I am a mom of four and an identical twin. With a passion for media, I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Media and Television Production in 2012 and due to my love for children, I also hold a certificate in Nursing Auxiliary. As media is my first love, I started working at the Polokwane Review as a journalist in 2017 and it has been amazing thus far. I love journalism because I can be a voice to the community through my work. Journalism allows me to meet different people at the events I attend. Although there are certain beats that journalists stick to, being an all-rounder means I write community, schools, sports, hard, lifestyle and entertainment news. It also allows me to be versatile in the newsroom and assist where I can. ‘Journalism can never be silent, that is its greatest virtue and its greatest fault.’
