Limpopo taxi bodies hand over memorandum to Dept of Transport

The Limpopo Department of Transport has officially received a memorandum from taxi associations, with HOD Stephen Matjena accepting the document.

POLOKWANE – The Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety has officially received a memorandum submitted by various taxi associations, reaffirming its commitment to engaging with key stakeholders, despite the march being deemed unlawful.

Head of Department, Stephen Matjena, personally accepted the memorandum on behalf of the department.

“His actions demonstrate a commitment to Batho Pele principles by prioritising respectful and dignified engagement with the taxi associations,” says Department spokesperson Matome Taueatsoala.

Taxi association representatives, who had gathered to voice concerns over industry-related issues, said they appreciated the respectful manner in which they were received.

The department has confirmed that the issues raised in the memorandum will be carefully considered and addressed.

For the associations, the acceptance of the memorandum marks a step toward having their concerns heard, even as questions linger about the legality of their demonstration.
