Seshego baking masterclass empowers women

Women in Seshego gain baking and business skills at a successful masterclass hosted by Glamour School of Beauty and Rama.

POLOKWANE – Glamour School of Beauty in Seshego Zone 2 hosted a successful baking masterclass with Rama on Saturday, drawing aspiring bakers and entrepreneurs eager to sharpen their skills.

Empowering women through skills development

Founder of the beauty school, Francina Kgopa told BONUS the well-attended event aimed to empower women with practical skills to start their own baking businesses and create jobs.

Kgopa said the initiative reflects her passion for uplifting women through skills development.

“Our goal is to give women the tools they need to succeed and become financially independent.

“Baking is a skill that can be used to create a sustainable income, and we’re thrilled to have shared that with our participants,” she said.

The masterclass proved popular, with one participant, Elsie Nakeng, winning a hamper from Rama to help kick-start her baking venture.

Building businesses through baking

Kgopa believes equipping women with both practical and business skills can improve livelihoods and help reduce unemployment.

Glamour School of Beauty operates in Seshego and Mokopane, and remains committed to making a positive impact in local communities.

“My vision is to continue empowering women and girls through skills training, enabling them to achieve their dreams and create a brighter future for themselves and their families,” Kgopa said.

“We’re not just teaching baking; we’re teaching women to be their own bosses, create opportunities and change their lives.”

My name is Anne Mametja. I am a mom of four and an identical twin. With a passion for media, I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Media and Television Production in 2012 and due to my love for children, I also hold a certificate in Nursing Auxiliary. As media is my first love, I started working at the Polokwane Review as a journalist in 2017 and it has been amazing thus far. I love journalism because I can be a voice to the community through my work. Journalism allows me to meet different people at the events I attend. Although there are certain beats that journalists stick to, being an all-rounder means I write community, schools, sports, hard, lifestyle and entertainment news. It also allows me to be versatile in the newsroom and assist where I can. ‘Journalism can never be silent, that is its greatest virtue and its greatest fault.’
