MH Gr 3 learners showcase entrepreneurial skills at market day, selling crafts and treats while learning budgeting and customer service.

POLOKWANE – Mitchell House recently hosted a lively and engaging market day for Gr 3 learners, giving them a hands-on taste of the business world.

The event proved a big success, offering learners a chance to develop entrepreneurial skills, creativity and financial awareness in a fun, practical way.

Young entrepreneurs set up colourful stalls featuring a variety of products, from handmade crafts to baked treats and refreshing drinks. With plenty of enthusiasm, they took charge of pricing, marketing and selling their goods to fellow learners, teachers and staff.

The market day was designed to tie in with the curriculum, allowing learners to put classroom theory into practice. From budgeting and money management to customer service, the Gr 3s showed a solid grasp of key concepts.

“We were thrilled to see our learners fully engage in their entrepreneurial ventures. The enthusiasm and creativity on display were inspiring, and we look forward to hosting more events that encourage them to think outside the box,” she said.

My name is Anne Mametja. I am a mom of four and an identical twin. With a passion for media, I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Media and Television Production in 2012 and due to my love for children, I also hold a certificate in Nursing Auxiliary. As media is my first love, I started working at the Polokwane Review as a journalist in 2017 and it has been amazing thus far. I love journalism because I can be a voice to the community through my work. Journalism allows me to meet different people at the events I attend. Although there are certain beats that journalists stick to, being an all-rounder means I write community, schools, sports, hard, lifestyle and entertainment news. It also allows me to be versatile in the newsroom and assist where I can. ‘Journalism can never be silent, that is its greatest virtue and its greatest fault.’
