Mokopane SPCA seeks permanent home for rescued donkey

The SPCA is appealing for a suitable home for Ninna, a young donkey found abandoned and alone, who now needs space to roam freely.

MOKOPANE – Ninna the donkey was just three months old when she was found alone in town – without a mother, owner or shelter, left to fend for herself as people passed her by.

For days over a long weekend, the young donkey waited for someone to return, but no one came. Her condition told a story of neglect. Her coat was severely matted and infested with external parasites, requiring shaving at Le Woof Dog Grooming, while she was weak and ill.

A call for help changed her fate. With support from the Mokopane Veterinary Laboratory, the state vet and the care of Rachelle Warren, Ninna received treatment and began recovering from infection and illness. Despite her condition, she responded to care and gradually regained strength.

Today, Ninna has transformed into a gentle and curious animal. She now roams the SPCA grounds, interacting with staff and seeking attention, becoming a familiar and valued presence.

While the SPCA has provided her with safety and care, it is not intended to be her permanent home. Staff say Ninna needs a space where she can roam freely and receive dedicated care.

They are appealling for a suitable home where she will be safe, cared for and given the attention she needs.
