Last chance to swap SASSA Gold Card for Black Card
Social grant beneficiaries have less than a week to replace their SASSA Gold Cards with the new Black Card before the August 31 deadline.
LIMPOPO – Social grant beneficiaries who have not yet replaced their SASSA Gold Cards have less than a week to switch to the new Postbank Black Card before the August 31 deadline.
Postbank is urging beneficiaries to complete the migration as soon as possible, warning that Gold Cards will be phased out and will no longer work once the process is completed.
Those who miss the deadline could experience difficulties accessing their grant payments.
Don’t wait for your usual payment date
Beneficiaries have also been advised not to wait until their usual grant payment dates to replace their cards, as replacement sites could become busier as the deadline approaches.
Where to replace your card
Postbank Black Cards can be obtained at selected branches of:
- Shoprite
- Checkers
- Usave
- Pick n Pay
- Boxer
- Spar
Replacement sites operate Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Beneficiaries can dial *120*355# from their mobile phones to find their nearest card replacement point.
What to bring
The replacement is free, but beneficiaries must present a valid South African identity document or temporary ID.
