POLOKWANE – Motorists, businesses and residents of Polokwane are soon to breathe a sigh of relief as significant progress has been made with the city’s road rehabilitation programme.

To date, major rehabilitation works on a number of key roads have been completed, with the remaining work primarily relating to road markings and associated finishing touches, according to the Polokwane Municipality.

This progress translates to approximately 80% overall completion of the rehabilitation programme within the city.

Major rehabilitation works have been substantially completed on the following streets:

• Burger Street
• Oost Street
• Compensatie Street
• Voortrekker Street
• Jorissen Street
• Mika Street
• Pietersburg Street
• Railway Street
• Fosfaat Street
• Emerald Street
• Jasmyn Avenue
• Knox Street
• Wilge Street
• McDonalds Avenue
• Euphorbia Avenue
• Katjepiering Lane

What motorists should expect

Notably, where major construction works have been completed, the municipality says motorists may find that certain sections remain subject to temporary traffic arrangements while final works, including road markings, are undertaken.

The municipality is continuing with works on sections where rehabilitation and associated construction activities are still underway.

The status of individual road sections may change as contractors complete particular phases of work and traffic-control arrangements are adjusted.
