Mokopane community gives entrance landmark a fresh look

Volunteers gathered to clean and repaint Mokopane's iconic train landmark, with two learners recognised for their contribution to the community effort.

MOKOPANE – Volunteers gathered on August 22 to clean the area around the northern entrance and put the finishing paint touches to the train, helping to give this well-known Mokopane landmark a renewed appearance.

The refreshed train is a visible reminder of the impact community action can have. Through simple acts of care, residents are helping to transform shared spaces and create a town they can all be proud of.

A true community effort

The day was a true community effort, with residents rolling up their sleeves, picking up litter and getting involved in the painting work.

Two learners from Mokopane Destiny Academy, Kaden Khumalo and Anga Chewane, were recognised as “agents of the day” for their contribution to the initiative.

Agents of change, Kaden Khumalo and Anga Chewane are recognised on the day for their contribution to the Love My Mokopane clean-up, celebrating their commitment to making a difference in their community.

Thank you to sponsors

A special thank you goes to Sue van der Merwe, who sponsored the paint, and Mogalakwena Municipality, which provided a skip to support the clean-up.

More than just cleaning

For Love My Mokopane, the work is about more than cleaning and painting. It is about taking pride in the town and showing what can be achieved when people come together.

Join the next clean-up

Love My Mokopane is calling on residents to join the next clean-up on September 19 and become part of the movement.
