Major pipe burst leaves parts of Polokwane without water
A major pipe burst at the Olifantspoort Plant has interrupted water supply to Ga-Chuene, Thokgwaneng, Polokwane City and Seshego.
POLOKWANE – Polokwane Municipality received communication from Lepelle Northern Water (LNW) this morning, advising that the Olifantspoort Water Treatment Plant is currently offline due to a major burst on an 800mm pipeline.
The bulk water supplier has indicated that the incident requires a cut-and-replace intervention for the necessary repairs.
No timeline yet for repairs
At this stage, Lepelle Northern Water has not yet provided timelines for the completion of repairs and the restoration of water supply.
Affected areas
The interruption is expected to affect water supply to the following areas:
- Ga-Chuene
- Thokgwaneng
- Polokwane City
- Seshego
Municipality engaging with LNW
The municipality is engaging with Lepelle Northern Water to obtain updates on the progress of repairs and the anticipated restoration of water supply.
