Mickey & Minnie Castle School named runner-up for Best Nursery School

Polokwane parents name Mickey & Minnie Castle School runner-up for Best Nursery School, celebrating its child-focused teaching approach.

POLOKWANE – Mickey & Minnie Castle School was recently voted as the runner-up in the Best Nursery School category in the Polokwane Review/Observer Best of Polokwane Readers’ Choice Awards.

The school was established in 2006 and has ever since provided quality education to toddlers.

Their primary goal is to foster the physical, intellectual, social and emotional development of your child by providing a supervised, caring and happy environment.

The principal, Freda Gerber, says at Mickey & Minnie, they believe that knowledge is power, to question is to understand, and understanding is being enlightened.

“Our child-friendly environment encourages individuality and promotes self-assurance, confidence and independence. We have small classes to ensure one-on-one interaction between the teacher and the child. Our specialist teaching further stimulates, stretches and expands young minds.”

Gerber says they are grateful to their school community.

“This award means a lot to us. We feel valued by our parents, and look forward to have the young ones with us, teaching them more than just schoolwork.”

My name is Maretha Swanepoel and I have worked at the Polokwane Review since 2012. The decision to become a journalist came at 04:00 one Friday morning while watching news of bombings in Afghanistan and I realised I wanted to be there. Some years later, I decided to rather stay in South Africa and join the industry due to my love for writing and curiosity. Even though I can write all beats, I love human interest and community news with some schools added to the mix. Telling someone’s story and using my camera to make memories is a privilege. My interests include animals (especially dogs) and mental health. I like to spend my time with my dogs and a good book. My family is important and takes second place in my heart. God is always first.
