POLOKWANE City registered their first win when they beat Ajax Cape Town 2-0 during their Premier Soccer League (PSL) match

POLOKWANE City registered their first win when they beat Ajax Cape Town 2-0 during their Premier Soccer League (PSL) match at the Peter Mokaba Sports Complex on Sunday.

Thapelo Tshilo and Siphesihle Nzimande handed City FC the win, moving the team from the bottom of the log.

City FC managed to muzzle Ajax in the 40th minute when Tshilo slid in to tap home the opening goal.

Nzimande found the back of the net in the 70th minute to make it 2-0.

City FC’s caretaker coach, Eduardo Schoeler said anything was possible if players were serious about winning.

He said City FC was still going to beat other big teams in the PSL.

“Players should by brave and concentrate the whole 90 minutes of the game,” he said

• On Saturday, Baroka FC played against Black Leopards in a National First Division match at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.

The two teams matched evently and drew 2-2.

Baroka coach, Augustine Chokoe blamed his defenders for the lack of concentration that led to Leopards striker, David Zulu scoring the equalising goal in the 68th minute to make it 2-2.

Both teams played attacking soccer from the onset of the match.

Leopards found the back of the net first with Zulu outrunning Baroka defenders, Thabo Ralebakeng and Dineo Olaleng Shau in the fourth minute of the game.

Baroka equalised in the sixth minute through their striker, Thabiso Kutumela.

The equalising goal energised Baroka, who pressurised Leopards defenders until Baroka got a penalty.

Gift Motupa converted this move into a goal to make the score 2-1.

Baroka contiued to play like they were on fire and Kutumela would have exceeded his goals, had his powerful header not been flicked over the goal post by the Leopards goalkeeper, Dino Visser.

In the second half, Leopards came back strongly, playing as a team.They introduced Abbas Amidu, who terrorised Baroka’s defenders.

Zulu scored the equalising goal in the 68th minute after a good though-pass from Amidu.

Baroka could have punished Leopards in the dying minutes of the game but Motupa’s ball, which he was supposed to only have tapped, went over the goal post.
