The Limpopo Blue Bulls’ u/21 team continued their winning streak by beating the Griquas on their home ground with a final score of 24-19. The u/19 team lost yet another close fought match with the final score on 40-38 for Griquas.

The Limpopo Blue Bulls’ u/21 team managed to score four tries and the Griquas two. Griquas lead at halftime with 13-12.

It was in the second half that the Limpopo side perked up to score two more tries. Penalty kicks kept Griquas in the game, but Limpopo’s defence team prevented the hosts from securing a home victory.

Barend Wessels, Bernard Nortje, Donovan O’Grady and Robey Leibrandt scored tries for the Blue Bulls, while place kicker Marcel Scholtz succeeded with two conversions.

The u/19 side of the Limpopo Blue Bulls started their match’s first half in great form to lead 21-11 by halftime. The Griquas fought back in the second half to pip an unlucky Limpopo side 40-38.

Alistair van Schoor scored two tries for the Blue Bulls and Johannes Smit, Sipho Siboza, Wade Worthington and Willie Lloyd also scored tries. William Parker was successful with four conversions.

Limpopo Blue Bulls inter-provincial women’s league:

The A- and B-divisions’ final matches were concluded on Saturday in East London with the Limpopo Blue Bulls vying for top honours in the B-division. Their opponents were the Griquas.

Limpopo Blue Bulls players were simply outplayed by their rivals who lead 24-5 at halftime. The Bulls fought back, but Griquas stretched their tally on the score board to eventually win 39-20.

Like last year, when the Limpopo Blue Bulls played against the Pumas in the final and lost the title in their debut season, the championships’ title eluded the Bulls, a team that showed so much promise throughout the season.

Sevens rugby news:

On Saturday the Limpopo Blue Bulls sevens rugby team gathered in Polokwane for a training session under the guidance of coach Pieter Boshoff and team manager Danie van Staden in praparation of the Northern Regions sevens rugby series. The first round of this tournament would take place on Saturday in Pretoria. The next rounds are on 5 October in Potchefstroom, on 12 October in Nelspruit and the last round will be in Johannesburg on 19 October.
