Join municipality to raise money for city’s less fortunate students

THE Polokwane Municipality will once again host the annual mayoral charity golf match

THE Polokwane Municipality will once again host the annual mayoral charity golf match, which will be held at the Polokwane Golf Club on October 25.

Like the Blue Bulls Rugby golf match and the Polokwane Motor Rally, this match aims to raise money to provide study bursaries for under privileged students.

The Polokwane mayor, Freddy Greaver says these initiatives show that the municipality doesn’t just deliver services, but is also making an effort to improve the lives of people for the better.

“Critics might say that rugby and golf are elite sports for rich people. It might be so, but if the Polokwane Municipality did not find these money raising projects successful, we would have not continued with them. Since their inception in 2011, these matches have raised R3,5 million, emphasising their success,” says Greaver.

He says they want to pass the R4 million mark at the end of 2014.

Greaver says it would be an honour to have the premier, Stan Mathabatha take part in the golf match.

“There are a few municipalities that can boast about what the Polokwane Municipality is doing to benefit and uplift disadvantaged people.”
