Teams to represent Mopani at games club games
NINE teams from different sporting codes will represent Mopani in the provincial Club Development Games to be held in Polokwane from December 1 to December 6.
NINE teams from different sporting codes will represent Mopani in the provincial Club Development Games to be held in Polokwane from December 1 to December 6.
The women’s and men’s teams qualified for the games after being crowned district champions during the Mopani Club Development Games at Drankensig in Hoedspruit over the weekend.
Dan Club from Dan village in Greater Tzaneen will represent the district in the men’s rugby category, Mninginisi Brave Girls from Giyani in the women’s soccer, Dinoko from Phalaborwa in the men’s soccer, Majeje from Phalaborwa in netball, Thakgalane from Sekgosese in Greater Letaba in both men’s and women’s volleyball, Hlaneki Club from Giyani in cricket, the Phosphate team from Phalaborwa in softball and The Willows from Maruleng will represent the district in the women’s rugby category.
The Mopani games 2013 are hosted by the department of sport, arts and culture with the objective of encouraging the nation to participate in sporting activities, especially in the rural areas.
The games further gave sporting federations an opportunity to identify sporting talents at local level and also gave a chance to trained coaches, technical officials and administrators to display and enhance their skills.
