POLOKWANE – Isaac Senetla (24), a member of the Limpopo Impala cricket team says he wants to start playing professional cricket next year.
Isaac started playing cricket in 1996.
“My brother, Jack was already playing cricket and I learned about the sport from him,” he says.
Isaac has participated in the Northerns amateur three-day tournament. “I scored 30 runs with my first innings and 71 with the second,” he explains.
The Impalas hosted the Easterns in a three-day competition from October 9 to 11, where Isaac took three wickets for 16 runs in 14 overs.
He enjoys being on the field with his teammates, but lately finds it challenging to make runs.
“I had a knee injury and missed a lot of play time this year. I am only really coming back now.”
Isaac also enjoys playing soccer, basketball and tennis. “One day when my daughter is old enough, I want her to play tennis,” he laughs.
“Cricket is a sport for everyone, not only for men. I know a few women who also take part in the sport and they are really good. I believe if you want something and work hard for it, you can achieve it.”
