POLOKWANE – Race drivers from Polokwane Oval are making a name for themselves both regionally and nationally with two drivers competing in the national hot rods division, obtaing second and third place.

The two drivers, Allas Pienaar and Stephan Weideman have also been invited to attend the South African Motorsport annual awards in Gauteng later this year.

Other race drivers from Polokwane Oval who are set to compete in the last national event of the year on in Cape Town on November 2 are Johnny Durant, Roelof van Breda, Sakkie Venter, Haccum Hough, Rudolph Durant, Pieter Venter, Hennie de Koker and Deon Voges.

On the regional front there is a host of Polokwane Oval race drivers who shone in the regional championship that was contested over two rounds, in Polokwane on April 6 and in Vereeniging on May 25.

In the hot rods class, it was a clean sweep for Polokwane Oval as its drivers conquered the first three positions on the championship points log.

Pienaar is the crowned champ, with Weideman second and Marius Fourie in third place.

In the super saloon class, Venter thumped the opposition to claim the title, with fellow driver Voges notching up third spot. Polokwane Oval race drivers claimed another first and third positions in the championship in the 2-litre modified class. Pieter Venter was victorious with Haccum Hough in the third place.

In the race for the stock rods championship, Polokwane Oval racers Tienie Kloppers and Dirk Badenhorst missed out on the title. Kloppers came second and Badenhorst was third overall.

Polokwane Oval’s final round of its club championship is set to take place at Polokwane’s show terrain on November 23. Gates will open at 12:00 and the race action will take place at 18:00.
