Crack shots in national clash
The annual Bushveld Championships and the South African National Three-Gun Champioships were held in the city over the weekend.
POLOKWANE – The annual Bushveld Championships and the South African National Three-Gun Champioships were held in the city over the weekend.
A total of 70 competitors from KwaZulu-Natal, Gauteng, Mpumalanga and Limpopo took part in the championships.
Paul Eksteen, Jan Bondisio, Philip Smit and Dion du Bruyn represented the open division provincial team and won gold. The standard division provincial team received a silver medal in their division. Tinus Botha, Charles Bresler, Franco Rossouw and Ruben Rautenbach were part of this team.

Overall match winners:
• Open division – Paul Eksteen.
• Standard division – Tinus Botha.
Shotgun:
• Open division – Dion du Bruyn ended in fourth place.
• Standard division – Paul Eksteen finished in first place, while Tinus Botha ended in second place.
Handgun classic:
• Dion du Bruyn finished in first place.
• Tinus Botha took second place and Sean Mullin took the senior first place.
Handgun production:
• Jan Bondisio was in second place.
Handgun standard:
• Paul Eksteen ended in second place.
• Divan du Bruyn came first in the junior division.
• Amelda Greyling was in second place.
• Jan Oosthuizen finished first in the super senior category.
Rifle:
• Open – Paul Eksteen ended in first place, while Amelda Greyling ended second in the women’s category.
• Standard – Tinus Botha took first place and Jan Oosthuizen also took first place in the super senior category.
