Polokwane Athletic Club rewarded athletes for their achievements, performances and support last Saturday with a very enjoyable awards ceremony.

POLOKWANE – Polokwane Athletic Club rewarded athletes for their achievements, performances and support last Saturday with a very enjoyable awards ceremony.

Winners:

• Pieter Pretorius: Male athlete of the year and most social member.

• René Yiangou: Female athlete of the year.

• Sebata Motjale: Men’s Comrades ultra marathon award and fastest male marathon athlete.

• Lize van Staden: Women’s Comrades ultra marathon award.

• Khaukanani Mbedzi: Longest Comrades day award. It took Mbedzi a total of 11:58:23 to complete this year’s Comrades Marathon.

• Francis Tease and Tsholofelo Tsiane: Fastest husband and wife team in the Comrades.

• Tsholofelo Tsiane: Most improved female athlete

• Tebogo Pilusa: Most improved male athlete.

• Leon Hattingh: Award for the best attendance at time trials and the Polokwane Athletic Club Pegasus Award for exceptional and dedicated service to the club and its members.

• Rassie Nieuwoudt: Polokwane Athletic Club Pegasus Award for exceptional and dedicated service to the club and its members.

• Paul Robbertse: Booboo of the year.

• Phienas Magashule: Male athlete of the year, 50 years and older.

• Felicity Robberts: Female athelete of the year, 50 years or older.

• Melanie Melville: Fastest female marathon athlete of the year.

• Ria Swart: The club’s female supporter of the year.

• Callie Swart: The club’s male supporter of the year.

• Het Bouwer and Ria du Plessis: Ten years on the club’s Comrades support team.
