Malebani Pataki is this year’s overall winner of the Northern Media Group Zebula Golf Challenge after the final round at the Polokwane Golf Club on Wednesday.
Keith Badenhorst, who was the leader in the challenge before going into the final round, had to settle for second place after experiencing a torrid day on the course. Badenhorst’s dismay continued right up to the 18th hole when he landed in the sand. This added two more shots to his efforts to get out and back onto the green.
Pataki and Badenhorst both won a weekend for two at the Zebula Country Club and Lodge outside Bela Bela.
The honour of winning the final round went to Raoul van Zyl, who accumulated 45 points. His most notable moment was the 50m chip he played on the 18th green which rolled along very nicely to sink in the hole. This shot resulted in a birdie.
Second place went to Raymond Pratt, with 38 points on a count-out.
In third place with 37 points was Peter Masehela.
Overall NMG Zebula Challenge winner, Pataki, took the prize for the golfer who drove the longest drive along the 17th fairway.
Of the 65 entries, a number of golfers managed to score two-clubs. They were: Helgard Muller, Len Olley, Raymond Pratt, Malebani Pataki, Piet Venter, Craig Hawken, Raymond Mushaike, Attie Buitendagt and Peter Masehela.
