THE 2014 soccer season for the Kaizer Letsoalo Games (KLG) will kick-off next month with exciting fixtures and brand-new formats.
According to the league committee, plans for the new season will be outlined in a consultative meeting with all existing and interested clubs at the Lephepane Child Care Centre on Sunday, January 26.
The KLG Soccer League consisted of 32 teams, which were divided into two equal streams of 16 clubs each, last year. The one stream was called the Green Stream while the other was called the Yellow Stream. The Yellow Stream leaders, Ramalema Cosmos, emerged as champions of the league after eliminating the Green Stream winners, Manamela Naughty Boys, in the gruelling two-leg play-offs.
The organising committee confirmed that that KLG will introduce the KLG Premier League and its second tier, the KLG Super League, this season.
The Premier League will include the 16 teams that finished top of the KLG Soccer League last season. All other clubs, including new ones wishing to join the KLG Sport this season, will be accommodated in the Super League.
The first competitive programme of the KLG Soccer League will be the KLG Top 8 Soccer Challenge. The tournament will most likely be staged in the second week of February.
The top eight teams in the 2013 KLG Soccer League log standings will be entitled to participate in this competition. The following teams qualify to participate in the challenge:
• Ramalema Cosmos;
• Manamela Naughty Boys;
• Real Madrid;
• Leswika Classic;
• Golden Aces;
• Mapantsula;
• Long Valley, and
• Bayern Young Stars.
