Giyani Hotspurs one step closer to moving on to their next challenge

GIYANI Hotspurs looks set to move to third position in the Safa Second Division League, but this depends on the other teams’ performances, following Hotspurs’ 1-0 win against Joe Express FC at the Giyani Stadium over the weekend.

Hotspurs’ win over Express FC was their second consecutive win after beating Rospa United 4-0 last Wednesday.

Playing under the guidance of a new coach, Funny Bilankulu, Hotspurs seems to have the right combination of players needed to reach their dream; representing Giyani in the National First Division.

Asked about the team’s performance on Saturday, Bilankulu said the trick was getting to know and understand the players’ needs in order to get them to play as a team.

“I try to meet them halfway by understanding their needs and grievances,” said Bilankulu. “Happy players perform well as a team.”

With a game in hand, Hotspurs are well placed to move to the top position in the league if they can sustain their current form and win their next game.

Express FC coach, Edwin Rampedi, blamed the loss on the lack of commitment from the team, saying they were not playing at their best.

“The game was tough, but if we had done our homework and played as a team, we could have won the match,” he said.
