Athletes set new inter-house records

POLOKWANE – Pepps Polokwane College hosted an inter-house athletics meeting on Friday. Although weather conditions were hot and humid, the learners performed well, setting 19 records.

“We have great potential in our athletes, and I am excited by what they will achieve this season,” said Leigh Melville, the college head.

Apollo was the overall winner with 932 points, followed by Poseidon with 837 points and Zeus with 636 points.

Results:

• Theto Morifi – junior Victor Ludorum. He obtained first place in discus, 200 m, long jump, javelin, high jump and 1 500 m and second place in 100 m and shot put. He also set a new record for u/14 boys javelin.

• Maredi Mphahlele – senior Victor Ludorum. He obtained first place in 100 m, 110 m hurdles, 1 500 m, high jump and long jump and third place in 200 m. He set a new record for boys u/17 long jump and high jump.

• Danielle Seebacher – junior Victrix Ludorum. She obtained first place in long jump, 90 m hurdles, high jump, 800 m, 100 m, shot put and 400 m.

• Katharine Spencer – senior Victrix Ludorum. She obtained first place in 800 m, discus, 1 500 m and 400 m and second place in 100 m, high jump, 200 m and long jump. She set four new records in girls u/17 800 m, discus, 1 500 m and 400 m.

• Kamogelo Mamabolo broke the records for u/17 girls shot put, high jump and long jump.

• Michael Gelderman set the records for u/19 boys 110 m hurdles and javelin.
