POLOKWANE – It was back to business for Polokwane Oval’s racing drivers on
Saturday, with the club’s first racing event of the year.
The event, which was held at the oval track at the Polokwane Show Grounds was somewhat hampered by the rain. But this did not dampen competitors’ spirits, nor the anticipation of an expectant crowd.

Willie Blignaut led his rivals over the finish line in the stockrod class, with Tienie Blignaut second and Attie van der Merwe in third place.
The 1660 modified class was won by Sybrand Thysse. Second was WF Weideman and third place went to JJ Fourie.
Johnny du Rant showed his class as South African champion in the 2.1 modified class by winning, with
Haccum Hough in second place. Third place went to Polokwane Oval’s promoter, Roelof van Breda.
Nico Vorster claimed a class victory in the hotrod division. Second place was taken by Allas Pienaar, with Wors Prinsloo settling for third place.
In the super saloon class, Piet Venter won ahead of his son, Pieter, who won the South African championship last year.
