Du Plessis on top in SA quad bike seeding event

FRIDAY evening’s heavy rain turned the seeding event of the 2014 South African off-road and quad championships in Bronkhorstspruit into a wet and muddy race.

With the quad riders starting first, the bike riders had less troubles as the weather had cleared and the route had started to dry out.

Quad bike riders from Limpopo recorded the fasted times, with Polokwane’s André du Plessis recording the fastest time with a lap time of 38 minutes and 4,6 seconds on a Q1 class Yamaha quad bike.

Fellow Polokwane rider and current national quad bike title holder, Jurie Meyer was two minutes and 47 seconds off the pace, but this was sufficient to post the second fasted time.

Meyer slotted into second place by a mere three seconds faster than former junior national champion, Jaco Moller from Tzaneen on a Portable Shade Extreme ATV.

Just over half a minute behind Moller was another former Polokwane resident and national champion, Brian Baragwanath, also on a Yahama.

It seems as if the master class will once again be a battle between defending champion, Jurie Meyer (snr) on a Yamaha quad bike and Tony dos Santos on a Suzuki. Meyer was however, beaten by Dos Santos in this seeding event by 43 seconds.
