Baroka wary of Vasco da Gama

THE Baroka FC head coach, Sello Chokoe, said the players will have to tread carefully when they host Vasco da Gama in a National First Division (NFD) match at the Peter Mokaba Stadium this afternoon (Wednesday).
Bakgaga needed the last gasp goal from newly signed striker, Victor Letsoalo to edge out Milano United 2-1 on Sunday afternoon, and will face another Cape Town based club without some of their key players.
Defenders, Ololeng Shaku and Thabiso Kutumela have both received four yellow cards and will serve their one-match suspension when the team hosts Vasco, while Caiphus Mashiane and Mpho Maleka are still nursing injuries.
Chokoe warned the players against Vasco players.
“We are playing at home and we need to put them on the back foot from the onset.
“We need to use our pace more effectively, but our players must guard against Vasco’s quick counter-attacks.
“They have not be doing well of late and that makes them very dangerous because they are desperate for points,” Chokoe said.
Third placed Baroka will play their fourth consecutive match at home and have so far collected seven points out of a possible nine.
They beat Maluti FET College 2-0, played to a 1-1 draw against United FC before edging Milano United 2-1.
Vasco, on the other hand, have not won a match in their last four outings, losing one and drawing three.
If Baroka beats Vasco and other results favour them, they might move to second position on the log on 36 points, the same number of points with log leaders, Chippa United.
Another NFD match on Wednesday will see Black Leopards locking horns with FC Cape Town at Makhuvha Stadium. Both matches will kick off at 15:30.
