Mosomane takes Tops spot no 1

Golfer Phala Mosomane was the winner of the monthly Tops Liquor challenge at the Polokwane Golf Club last Wednesday.

Mosomane accumulated 41 points in this individual stableford format match to beat fellow club golfer, Riaan Blignaut by one point. Third place on 39 points was S.P. Mashakane.

There were four golfers who received awards for playing or landing closest to the pins.

They were Blignaut (fourth hole), Glen du Plessis (eighth hole), Sydney Shingange (11th hole) and Raoul van Zyl (16th hole).

They were Jacky Papola, Mpho Makado, Blignaut, Shingange, Kobus Marnevick, Goitsemang Moseki, Jack Schofield, Len Olley, Mosomane, Du Plessis and Johan van Ravenstein scored two-clubs.

Club day results:

Fred Kloppers and Devaux van der Wath teamed up for the Polokwane Golf Club’s match on Saturday, February 8 and went on to win this two ball combined stableford format competition with a total of 76.

In second place on a score of 75 was Pat Molepo and Raymond Mushaike. Third place on 74 points on a count-out were Len Olley and Jonas Legora.

The golfers who were able to score two-clubs in this match were Legora, Aart Juriaanse, Jan Nel, Menno Malherbe, Malebane Pataki, Paul Shearer, Jaco Linde, Theuns van Tonder, Tella Diemont and Adam Milanzi.

• Saturday, February 22 is the Bidvest betterball match.

• The popular Baobab Classic, which includes the final round of the Modern Autohaus BMW Polokwane Captain’s Knockout competition will be staged at the Polokwane Golf Club from March 6 to 8.
