THE head coach of the Limpopo u/17 football team, Sam “Bashin” Letsoalo has announced a squad that will represent Limpopo at the Inter-Provincial Tournament, which will be hosted by the North West province from March 31 to April 4.
Shortly after impressing the coaches during trials at the Peter Mokaba rugby fields on Sunday afternoon, 18 players were selected. Limpopo rising star defender, Thami Maloma, midfielders, Shaun Ramoba and Khutso Mafichi have made the cut and their experience of playing at national competitions might come in very handy.
Addressing the players after the announcement, Letsoalo said the journey has just begun for the boys and that they must keep their feet on the ground and work hard to make the people of Limpopo proud.
He said the selection might be the first step to their football career and that they must not think they have achieved anything yet.
“This is just the beginning. We do not have a mandate, but as a team we are going out there to make a mark and we can only do that by winning our matches.
“From now on you must think about the millions of Limpopo people whenever you enter that field of play. Their happiness rests on your shoulders. When you go back to your teams continue working hard and stay fit, respect your coaches and learn as much as you can,” said Letsoalo.
