THE Limpopo Softball Association’s acting president, Derrick Mahapa, believes the new softball equipment that was donated to the association will assist in growing this game throughout the province.

Mahapa was speaking after the National Lotteries Board of South Africa handed over the equipment in Lebowakgomo on Saturday.

A total of eight clubs from Sekhukhune district benefited from the donation.

Mahapa said: “We believe that the equipment will assist us in accomplishing our mandate of developing softball in the province. The donation will assist in encouraging young people to participate in sport”.

Mahapa said working with institutions such as National Lotteries Board of South Africa, they could make softball a great sport in the country. “South African Lotteries’ target is to equip teams with basic and necessary high quality softball equipment, and this is what we have been wishing for. With next year’s target of buying the highest quality playing attire for all the teams, softball will never be the same” said Mahapa. .

The teams that benefitted were Glencowie Survivals, Driekop Lions, Oasis, Tubatse Gunners, Lebowakgomo WildBeasts, Motlolo, Diphale, Nchabeleng and Porcupines Softball Clubs.
