Leopards trample Blue Bulls 71-10

POLOKWANE – The Limpopo Blue Bulls showed a spirit of competitiveness in the first 14 minutes of their second round match of the Vodacom Cup competition against North West Leopards at the Peter Mokaba Sports Complex on Saturday.
But the rest of the match belonged to Leopards as they ran amok through the shoddy defence of the home side to triumph by 71-10.
Left centre and place kicker for the Limpopo Blue Bulls, Andy Huysamen opened his team’s account on the scoreboard with a successful penalty. This was followed by an excellent try from scrumhalf Niyaas Johnson behind the poles, which enabled Huysamen to kick over an easy convertion.
The Limpopo Blue Bulls then trailed Leopards by 14-10.
This is where the Limpopo Blue Bulls ran out of steam in their defense and attack, as Leopards snapped back within two minutes with a converted try. At halftime, Leopards was leading 35-10.
Leopards scored five converted tries in the first half alone. In the second half, Leopards went for the kill and added another six tries to their tally. In total, Leopards racked up 11 tries.
Leopards missed out narrowly last week on a win on their home ground in Potchefstroom against the Golden Lions by a mere 18-16.
Limpopo Blue Bulls suffered a 62-10 loss against Griffons recently.
They travel to Kimberley, where they will face the GWK Griquas on Saturday. The match is scheduled for 14:00.
