SAB League club, Boyne Tigers FC’s quest for top honours received a much needed boost on Saturday afternoon when they walloped Manyora FC 3-1 at the Mohlakaneng sports ground.
With the game tied at 0-0 during the interval, it was second half substitute Thabo Mogashoa who broke the deadline with only his second touch on the third minute of the second half. The lanky striker completed his brace within seven minutes with a stunning shot from outside the box. Midfielder, Jerry Seabi put the match beyond doubt with a well-worked finish inside the penalty area.
Manyora FC’s consolation goal came in the last minute of the match by another substitute, Paul Mamabolo, who capitalised on a defense error, but it was too little too late. The win has revived the hopes of the Moria-based club, who have their eyes set on the summit of the log.
Boyne Tigers FC captain, Aaron Mahomo said he was pleased with the victory and was confident that they would be on top of the log come the end of the season.
“We came into this match trailing the log leaders with only five points, and if their results favour us, we could be two or three points behind them and that will keep us motivated and put them under pressure,” Mahomo said.
Tigers FC will welcome Seshego-based Beneth FC at Boyne sport ground on Saturday. Beneth FC has recorded positive results of late and have vowed to finish the league among the top four teams.
