Wait for start of league over
THE much awaited Polokwane Local Football Association (Polfa) Development League will finally be launched on Saturday.
THE much awaited Polokwane Local Football Association (Polfa) Development League will finally be launched on Saturday.
Fourteen teams from Seshego will converge at the Mohlakaneng sports ground for the official launch.
The league’s coordinator, Sunnyboy Makgoka says they will introduce the u/11 and u/15 leagues to teams in and around Seshego.
He says the time has come for young boys to showcase their talents in an organised league. “We will take the clubs through the registration process and inform them of how the league will run and what is expected of them. We are looking at having a minimum of 14 development clubs,” Makgoka explains.
Teams which will take part in the Polfa u/15 League include Mochene FC and Zone 1 United, who locked horns at the Mohlakaneng sports ground on Saturday.
The Letsokoane-based Mochene, who are still on a mission to secure a soccer kit, were humbled 3-1 by United, who had Eric Ramothapi to thank for a stunning hat-trick to seal the match.
Makgoka, who was among the spectators when United demolished Mochene, says the league will ensure players’ skills are honed at a young age and ensure proper development.
“We hope team managers will respond to the launch and overcome their fears of competing with other teams in an organised league.
We need youngsters to develop big match temperament at a tender age and with this league, we can achieve that,” concludes Makgoka.
