The Ebenezer Mile takes place every year at the Mountain Yacht Club at the Ebenezer Dam in Haenertsburg.

This event is sanctioned by Swimming South Africa and swimmers from accross the country take part in this event annually.

Ethan is a swimmer of the Eager Aquatics Academy that is run by renowned swimming coach, Douggie Eager. He is a freestyle and backstroke swimmer. “I am so happy with my medals. I am training very hard to win other competitions as well,” he said.

This young swimmer also excelled in cross country running, but decided to put his running career on hold in order to focus on his swimming instead.

Tania, Ethan’s mother, said she believed that he would reach the highest rung of the sport and saw him competing in the Olympic Games one day.

Ethan said he looked up to his father, Rob, who also took part in the Ebenezer Mile and came second in his age category.

“I want to thank my coach, Douggie Eager, for his great advice and tips. He is a great coach. Without him I would not be able to excel in swimming,” Ethan said.
