Al-Fatah wins title
Al-Fatah Cricket Club defeated the defending champions in the finals of the Pro 20 clubs competition on Saturday.
POLOKWANE – Al-Fatah Cricket Club defeated the defending champions in the finals of the Pro 20 clubs competition on Saturday.
Al-Fatah faced Sheshego Cricket Club in the finals and won after thrashing Mogol Cricket Club in the semi-finals earlier that day.
The semi-finals had to be reduced to 10 overs per game in order to fit in the finals in the afternoon due to heavy rain Friday night.
Al-Fatah batted first in their semi-final against Mo-gol and scored 50 for nine in 10 overs with Ryno Vorster taking three for nine in two overs.
Mogol struggled to chase down the total and were bowled out 31 for 10 in 9,2 overs.
In the second semi-final the defending champions Seshego played against Hornbill Cricket Club.
The Hornbills decided to bat first scoring a defendable 98 for three in 10 overs.
Gerrie Lourens was the top scorer with the bat making 40 runs off 24 balls not out. Christopher Atherstone also performed well with the bat, scoring 21 off 11 balls.
In reply Seshego scored 101 for in 7,4 overs thanks to a blistering knock by Amir Bux who scored a mammoth 67 off 24 balls not out.
Bux was was well supported by Isaac Senetla who scored 21 runs from 22 balls.
Seshego won this semi-final by nine wickets and qualified for the final agains Al-Fatah.
In an all-Polokwane final, Sheshego and Al-Fatah faced each other in a 16 overs match. Al-Fatah won the toss and decided to bat first and scored 119 for seven. Mohammed Patel performed well with the bat, scoring 56 runs off 36 balls.
Seshego struggled from the spin barrage from Al-Fatah and managed only 81 for three in 16 overs with Isaac Senetla scoring 27 runs off 38 balls not out.
Al-Fatah won with 38 runs and was crowned the Limpopo Impala Cricket Pro 20 Club Champions.
