THE stunning 12 hole par three golf course at PROTEA HOTEL Ranch Resort is the ideal venue for hosting events.

Most recently, Lexus Limpopo invited their clients to enjoy a fun- filled golfing experience. Clients also had the opportunity to test drive the latest models that this luxury car manufacturer has on offer.

“We can cater for at least 140 people here at the clubhouse. It is an ideal venue for corporate companies and their clients. It is also the perfect place for colleagues to socialise. Our golf course provides the ideal platform for businesses and corporations to interact on a personal level with their clients and to enhance business ties,” says Paul Shearer, the marketing manager of the Protea Hotel Ranch Resort.

Shearer says the shorter course offers golfers an excellent golfing experience without the exertion of an 18 hole course. “We also offer the professional services of Sean Pappas, who is our director of golf here at Protea Hotel Ranch Resort. Pappas can guide experienced golfers and beginners to make the most of this beautiful course,” he says. Pappas says the golf course is 1,25km long from beginning to end, and depending on the skills of the golfer, takes around two hours to complete.

“Our facilities cater for a wider spectrum of golfers and other guests and can also be enjoyed by non-golfers with the guidance of Pappas. The course’s facilities can also be used for other events, including weddings and banquets. We have a pro-shop at the golf course that caters for all golfing needs and a driving range for golfers who need a place to hone their skills,” explains Shearer.

He says the course was designed with the players’ enjoyment and experience of the course in mind. A couple of antelope wandering around the course just adds to the special touch and unique experience in a natural environment. “Our golf course was designed for people to enjoy a fun-filled day, rather than a grueling five-hour event.”

Shearer says Protea Hotel Ranch Resort has a reputation for excellent food and wine, which come standard with friendly and professional service.

“The Protea Hotel Ranch Resort is also a first choice for visiting sports teams to Polokwane. Furthermore, we have two multi-purpose sports fields that appeal to visiting sports teams and create a sport-focussed resort atmosphere.”

He stresses the resort is also an ideal location and atmosphere for people who seek privacy and as little interaction with other people as possible. “The night sky is something to experience here without all the city lights interfering with the splendour of the stars. According to Shearer, the resort management is looking at the possibility of an event that will combine golfing and angling, a first for Limpopo. He says Protea Hotel Ranch Resort offers a wide variety of events to suit the needs of all golfers.

“We host night golf events, ladies’ golf days and the Battle of Midway every year.”

Protea Hotel Ranch Resort golf course boasts 20 magnificent two bedroom self-catering chalets that residents can enjoy expansive views of the lush green course and attractive small dams.

Apart from golfing, Shearer says guests can enjoy mountain biking, trial running, game drives, horse riding and the Lion Walk, where you can interact with lions in their natural environment.

The resort is open seven days a week and bookings are essential for functions.
