Top 100 Comrades finish in his sights

Having competed eight times in the Comrades Marathon, Alfred Ngoasheng from Polokwane Athletics Club says he is aiming for a top 100 finish this year.

POLOKWANE – Having competed eight times in the Comrades Marathon, Alfred Ngoasheng from Polokwane Athletics Club says he is aiming for a top 100 finish this year.

Ngoasheng started running in 2005 as a way to keep fit and has since developed a love and passion for running, winning several medals along the way.

He competed in the Two Oceans Ultra Marathon recently, where he claimed position 813 in a time of 04:47:41 and was awarded the Sainsbury medal, which he also received last year. “I enjoy participating with professional runners as I learn a lot from them.

“Running is a good sport and anyone can participate until they are 60 years old and older.

My goal is in two stages, the first stage is to finish in the top 100 in Comrades Marathon this year, while the second one is to finish in the top 10 next year,” he says.

“I am paving my way up to the top slowly but surely.”

According to Ngoasheng, athletes should be disciplined in order to achieve their dreams and become the best they can be.

He seeks sponsorship to compete in the Comrades Marathon. Anyone who is willing to help can contact him at 083 984 5167.
