Pretorius, Dreyer play to victory

Jacques Pretorius and Schalk Dreyer were crowned the winners of the KFC, PG Glass, Tricoma and Xerox betterball sta-bleford format golf competition, which was held at the Polokwane Golf Club last Saturday.

POLOKWANE – Jacques Pretorius and Schalk Dreyer were crowned the winners of the KFC, PG Glass, Tricoma and Xerox betterball stableford format golf competition, which was held at the Polokwane Golf Club last Saturday.

Some 111 golfers took part in the challenge, but there could only be one winning team.

The day also provided some unexpected excitement when a large snake was disco-vered on the ninth hole and golfers were urged to be cautious every time they had to go near the bushes or close to the water.

Pretorius and Dreyer won the challenge with 47 points, followed by Goitsemang Moseki and Tony Plaatjies with 46 points.

Aaron Segwapa and Raymond Mushaiki were in third place with 45 points, followed by Keith Badenhorst and Duncan Menzies with 45 points on a count-out.

Moseki, Plaatjies and Julius Mapatha were crowned the PG Glass winners after accumulating 40 points.

Golfers who won prizes for being nearest to the pin were Jacky Papola on the fourth hole, Martin van Ghent on the eighth hole, Freek Schutte on the 11th hole and Carel Haupt on the 16th hole.

Golfers who scored two-clubs in this challenge were Sam Kalla, Attie Buitendag, Aaron Segwapa, Leo Gama, Keith Badenhorst, Martin van Ghent, Edwin Mackays and Brain O’Reilly.

Pick n Pay will host an individual sta-bleford challenge at the Polokwane Golf Club tomorrow (Wednesday).
