Black Leopards focus on win

BLACK Leopards are sitting at the summit of the Premier Soccer League (PSL) promotion/relegation play-offs after beating Milano United 2-1 at Giyani Stadium on Sunday, but head coach Kosta Papic says the hard work has just begun.

Lidoda Duvha had goalkeeper Jacob Mohasi to thank for their feat following his man of the match performance. The former Orlando Pirates goal keeper stood firmly between Milano and victory. Leopards are two points ahead of both Milano and Polokwane City, but Papic vowed that his players would make supporters happy.

“Our supporters want to see us playing in the PSL, they came out in numbers to send a message that they are behind us and we will fight like leopards to make them happy,” said Papic.

The former Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs coach added that his charges were not afraid of their derby match against Polokwane City, whom they will meet at the Peter Mokaba Stadium tonight (Wednesday).

The Serbian born mentor said it was not the first time that they played a club from the PSL and they would play their normal game to upset City. Lidoda Duvha held Kaizer Chiefs to a goalless draw until extra time in the Nedbank Cup two months ago and fancy their chances against City who found the going tough in the country’s elite league.

Meanwhile Milano United head coach Theo Hempe was confident that his club had a chance despite collecting only one point out of a possible six in their last game. He said the way his players applied them-selves gave him hope that they were still in with a chance. “We are creating a lot of goal scoring chances and it is just our finishing which is letting us down. We will rectify our mistakes.”
