POLOKWANE – Polokwane Athletic Club athletes who participated in the recent Nguni Race were treated to the club’s annual goodie bag breakfast at Nguni Grill on Saturday.
The breakfast was held to wish those participating in the Comrades Marathon good luck for the ultra marathon on Sunday.
The athletes received goodie bags filled with much needed products to help them prepare for the Comrades.
Michiel De Bruin, guest speaker of the day, motivated the athletes. “You must plan properly and stick to your plan. Eat properly before the race. An athlete must have confidence in themselves and in their training. Dream of being successful in the Comrades, visualise yourself finishing the race,” said De Bruin.
Johan Janse van Vuuren, the Polokwane Athletic Club chairperson, thanked all the sponsors who helped put together the goodie bags for the athletes.
“The goodie bags include a water bottle, T-shirt, running shorts, sun block, sports magazine and cost R800 per bag,” said Van Vuuren.
