Mariveni United FC celebrates players’ best performances
MARIVENI United FC honoured their players for the 2013/2014 SAB League soccer season during an award ceremony which was held at Nkowankowa Community Hall on Saturday.
MARIVENI United FC honoured their players for the 2013/2014 SAB League soccer season during an award ceremony which was held at Nkowankowa Community Hall on Saturday.
Midfielder, Thapelo “Zane” Manganyi received Player of the Season and Player’s Player of the Season Awards, while the team’s leading goal scorer with 34 goals in both the league and competitions, Edwin “Sampam” Berretta received the Top Goal Scorer Award. Ntshuxeko Marima was rewarded for scoring the best goal of the season, while his namesake, Ntshuxeko “Jogger” Ngobeni took home the Most Promising Player Award. Forget “Piro” Shigange walked away with the chairman’s award. The outstanding players received trophies and certificates, while the rest of the players walked away with certificates of appreciation.
According to the team manager, Cliff Mkhawana, the awards were aimed at encouraging players to work harder. He said the team finished the season on top of the stream B log standings, but lost out on promotion during the play-offs.
