400 athletes tackle 3-in-1 road race

POLOKWANE – Two Pietersburg Road Runners athletes dominated the senior category of the Savannah Mall half marathon this weekend.

The Savannah Mall 3-in-1 road race was supported by more than 400 athletes on Saturday morning, with Phuti Mohale and Martinique Potgieter taking the top spots in the 21.1km race.

Mohale, a seasoned runner and member of Pietersburg Road Runners, completed the 21.1km race in a spectacular time of 68:44.

Potgieter, another star from Pietersburg Road Runners, who won a gold medal for her ninth place overall at the Comrades Marathon two months ago, won the women’s half marathon in 88 minutes flat.

The junior winners, Emmanuel Ramohale and Milda Molokomme crossed the finish line to win third place overall in the men’s and women’s half marathons respectively.

More than R10 000 total prize money was handed to the winners in the different categories.
