Leopards lose their Manaka to Stars

Former Black Leopards midfielder, Edgar Manaka has signed a three-year deal with Platinum Stars FC.

POLOKWANE – Former Black Leopards midfielder, Edgar Manaka has signed a three-year deal with Platinum Stars FC.

Manaka has been training with Platinum Stars for three weeks now and says he expects to play in his first match with the team on September 28, when they face University of Pretoria at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium.

Manaka has been the subject of transfer speculation the past off-season, with various clubs keen to land him for the 2014/15 season.

He was expected to make a move to Orlando Pirates, but says things did not end well.

“I am happy to join Platinum Stars and I believe that I will be one of the best assets to the team. I have been playing in the National First Division (NFD) for a long time now and I am honoured to finally be part of a Premier Soccer League (PSL) team,” he says.

He adds that he wants to make history and take his game to the next level, eventually wearing the South African jersey.

“It is my wish to be part of the national team, but my main focus now is on Platinum Stars. I look forward to growing with the team.”

Manaka says he wants to convince people from Limpopo that everything is possible.

“Young people should not give up until they reach their goals. It takes hard work and commitment to become the best soccer player.”
