Benny’s Care Sports Development Academy, the provincial champions of the Sanlam Kay Motsepe schools Cup have been eliminated in the national finals of the tournament, which is held at the Giant Stadium in Pretoria.

The tournament started yesterday (Wednesday) and will end on Saturday.

Benny’s care were eliminated in their fifth match.

According to David Mufamadi, Benny’s Care Sport Development Academy managing director, said they played their first match against KwaZulu-Natal, which they won 1-0.

“We played the second match against Eastern Cape and the game ended in a 1-1 draw,” said Mufamadi.

“We won the third match 3-1 against Northern Cape. The fourth match was played against Eastern Cape, whom we beat 2-0.

“But we were unfortunately eliminated in the fifth match when we lost 1-0 to Northern Cape.”

Mafumadi said they would be competing for position eight and nine and the results would only be known today (Thursday). Benny’s Care Sports Development Academy were crowned the Sanlam Kay Motsepe Schools Cup provincial champions for four years.

They were the provincial winners in 2010, 2012, 2013 and 2014.

Mufamadi could not comment any further about the tournament as he was busy coaching the players for the next match yesterday (Wednesday).
